Can't set up Firefox Home or Sync

Posted

When I click "send me instructions" on the iPhone and put in my email address, I get the message "Unable to submit your email, please try again later (400)." I've been getting this for a week.

When I try to set up an account on my desktop, I click "Finish" and the dialog box disappears but nothing else happens. I still have "Set up sync" in Tools, nothing happens if I click "I have an account". Nothing happens if I click "Sync Options" either.

Helpful replies

No, as I already explained, I can't get past the first screen in "Set up sync". I click "Finish" and the dialogue box just disappears without setting anything up.

Hi!

First you need to set up Firefox Sync in your computer. If you are seeing "Set up Sync" in your computer is because it's not set up. If you already created an account you need to reset it, if not, that's the first thing to do.

If you never created an account follow this article: How do I set up Firefox Sync?

If you did have an account but you forgot your password or Sync key and you don't have a synced device read this article: I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do

The email service for the steps seems to be down and I'm not sure if it will ever work again. The instructions that I linked should help though.

Let me know if that works.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
