Firefox Update settings missing

Posted

In Firefox 15 (Linux), if you open Preferences, go to the Advanced page, and select the Update tab, the settings for Firefox Update are missing completely. The settings that should be there can be seen here: Advanced settings for accessibility, browsing, system defaults, network, updates, and encryption

In my browser, all I see is the "Automatically Update" section with the option for Search Engines.

Ubuntu handles Firefox updates thru the Ubuntu repository and it hides the official version Firefox update menu item that you see in that KB article.
