(2) If you do a "hard" reload bypassing the cache (Ctrl+Shift+r) does the page appear correctly?

I did this and it worked! thank you so much! :)

Hi EdAmbrogi, could you indicate:

(1) When you have this problem, does the address in the URL bar match the address you set for your home page? (In case it is getting hijacked somehow...)

(2) If you do a "hard" reload bypassing the cache (Ctrl+Shift+r) does the page appear correctly?

(3) If you click the Home button or press Alt+Home does the home page load correctly?

Perfect- I've never used the "hard" reload before- worked a treat! Thanks.

Could you check your home page setting here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > General

There might be a typo or other problem with the URL.

I uninstalled and reinstalled it keeping my settings upon re installation. This solved the problem. My next step was to use IE although I prefer Firefox. Thanks for all the help to everyone.
