"Remember Passwords" stopped working
Tools | Opts | Sec | Remember Passwords is checked. Tools | Opts | Sec | Saved Passwords displayed old password info (passwords which had bee changed long ago). Nothing in Privacy is set to clear passwords ...
Chosen solution
by cor-elIt is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.

This is too technical dude. Can you explain it to someone who knows nothing or next to nothing about software. S/he just wants to fly our "multi media brain phone" or "screen" or "people meeter"

Please start a new thread for your problem or question and provide troubleshooting information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.
Upgraded to the latest version and my passwords quit working. I now have to type them in manually.
Another thing I noticed is that some FLASH quit working right too. I also upgraded that and it did not fix things.
I AM SICK & TIRED OF UPGRADING AND SOMETHING NEW HAPPENS!
P.S.
I had DRAG & DROP functionality quit while using the NEW FireFox.
I'm about ready to go back to Internet Explorer or better yet just quit the Internet!
do you use any extensions that might have an influence in this (torbutton is known to break all drag-&drop-behaviour for example)? please also note that it would be better to open a new question for problems after the update, as cor-el has already suggested at another occasion. thank you!
NOPE! Things worked fine until the FireFox & Flash upgrade. Now PASSWORDS do not work right & DRAG & DROP sometimes fails.
See, that's the problem with new versions of windows. Things are designed on the NEW OS & claim to run on older versions like Win XP and IT DOES NOT!!!
Good luck because I am done supporting MICRO$OFT! My next computer will be running LINUX!
Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You can also try:
There were NO problems until I upgraded to the latest & not so great FireFox.
And the RESET FireFox does NOT work since there is NO reset button on the troubleshooting information page. The page shown is NOTHING like the one shown on this web site.
I think I'm switching back to Internet Explorer. FireFox was good several versions ago but is no longer functional.
You only see the reset button on the Help > Troubleshooting Information page if the currently used profile is set as "Default=1" in the profiles.ini file.
So you either need to use the Profile Manager to start Firefox and select that profile or create a new profile yourself.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
