Yes, that's exactly my problem :/
Thanks, lindsaygii -- updating Roboform fixed the problem for me too.
I removed "Akamai netsession interface" from the registry and crashes have ceased.

Cancel that.. Crashes have now resumed. Don't know what has changed in V8.. but it's annoying!

I have a SOLUTION for you guys! (for Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit)
Please do the following steps:
1. Run firefox in safemode
->Windows Start menu ->Run Dialog ->enter C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -safe-mode for Windows 7 64 bit edition OR C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -safe-mode
2. If successfully runs in safemode, go to Tools->Options, then go to Advanced Tab then you'll see general tab, go below then find the "Use hardware acceleration when available" -UNCHECK IT! then hit ok. Then exit your firefox.
3. Start your firefox normally
- This will also resolve your firefox that hangs most of the time!
I tried this and it still does the instant crash/cant startup.
I solved the problem by upgrading to the FireFox 9.0 beta and have not had a problem since!
FF 9 beta crashes just as much for me.
Only 3 entries left in the Registry under "Run". 1x "OOdefrag" & 2x "Trend Micro". The "Trend Micro" extension no longer works with 8-9 either. Only 3 addons.. "Acrobat", "Java" & "Flash". And only 1 Extension... Mozilla Feedback 1.1.2. Where else to look?? I want v7 back!
I have a pc Quad Core Overclocked to 4.1 ghz. Downclocked to 3.9 ghz and Firefox is finally stable. Not sure why the other browsers (Chrome & Exploder) had no problem with O/C but FF sure did. So the issue for me was hardware related.. not a bug in FF. (Even though the instability did not show before V8 update).
Thanks.
