Do you have Firefox Sync version 1.4.4?

yes, FF sync 1.4.4 and FF 3.6.10.

Same version here. Note that I sync data from a firefox 4.0 nightly to the same account. Maybe there is some incombatibility there...

solved with FFSync 1.5

Came with FFSync 1.5 with 1.44 everything was ok. I use it to sync with Firefox Home on iPhone.

Edit: I tried resetting sync.

Windows 7 Professional 32 Bit, Firefox 3.6.10

I'm on FF4b6 and since there's no FirefoxSync extension, idk what to do

I agree with previous posters, installing Firefox sync 1.5 has caused this problem, not fixed it. I upgraded this morning, and the problem has been present since then. Removing and then re-installing this extension doesn't cure the issue.

I also have FF4 Beta 6 and there is no version control for Firefox Sync. I went back to FF4 Beta 5 to see if it was working there and still had the same problem. Perhaps the issue is server-side and not client-side?

I'm running Firefox 4.0 Beta 6 and have a chronic "Error While Syncing" message in the status bar at the bottom of my browser. The Error Console shows:

2010-10-13 13:12:01 Service.Main WARN Upgrade required to access newer storage version.

and about:sync-log shows:

2010-10-13 13:12:01 Net.Resource DEBUG GET success 200 hxxps://phx-sync158.services.mozilla.com/1.0/xxxxxxxx/info/collections 2010-10-13 13:12:01 Net.Resource DEBUG GET success 200 hxxps://phx-sync158.services.mozilla.com/1.0/xxxxxxxx/storage/meta/global 2010-10-13 13:12:01 Service.Main DEBUG Weave Version: @weave_version@ Local Storage: 2 Remote Storage: 3 2010-10-13 13:12:01 Service.Main WARN Upgrade required to access newer storage version. 2010-10-13 13:12:01 Service.Main CONFIG Starting backoff, next sync at:Wed Oct 13 2010 15:00:30 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) 2010-10-13 13:12:01 Service.Main DEBUG Exception: aborting sync, remote setup failed No traceback available

As mentioned previously, there's no option to upgrade in FF 4.0.

Install the Sync 1.5 extension as a temporary fix until 4.0b7 is released.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10868/

This change to Sync was supposed to happen at the same time for the Sync Server at Mozilla, the new Firefox Sync extension version 1.5, and to coincide with the release of Firefox 4.0b7 - which was delayed.

Hi edmeister.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just installed Firefox Sync 1.5 from the URL you supplied and restarted. Sync 1.5 shows up in my Add-ons Manager, but I'm still getting the same "Error While Syncing" with the same complaint of mismatched versions in about:sync-log.

Did you perform any intermediate steps between observing this error in FF 4.0b6 and installing the Sync 1.5 add-on?

– Dave

Well, it would appear this system is having real issues, and I'm beginning to wonder if I have lost all my stored bookmarks etc, as I have new laptop set-up, FF 3.6.10 on Ubuntu 10.10, and I have just installed sync 1.5. I'm not getting the sync errors now, but it is also not syncing anything at all. I can't find anything on the web apart from this post, so if anyone has any other links I would be interested?

Nick

I have found a work around for those having problems, and that's to create a new profile, so the change in the versions must have really changed something in the profile settings.

Basically backup your booksmarks and Tabs and then start firefox like so

firefox --ProfileManager

Create a new profile, and restore your tabs and bookmarks. Now install the sync version 1.5 and set-up as you have before. It works well. Now you will have lost certain things like passwords etc, but you will have a working sync function again.
